Memphis rapper Pooh Shiesty is facing another legal challenge as federal prosecutors push back against his request for improved jail conditions while he awaits trial on kidnapping and robbery charges involving fellow rapper Gucci Mane.

The 26-year-old artist, whose real name is Lontrell Williams Jr., is currently being held at the Rolling Plains Regional Jail in Haskell, Texas.

According to court documents reported by Complex, Shiesty’s legal team filed an emergency motion on October 15, alleging that he has been confined to his cell for approximately 23 hours daily, with limited opportunities for family visits.

Pooh Shiesty’s Lawyers Raise Concerns Over Jail Treatment

His attorneys claim the restrictive conditions have negatively affected his emotional well-being, causing anxiety and sleeping difficulties.

The legal team also alleges that the rapper’s monthly visitation allowance has been reduced from four hours to just two, making it difficult for relatives to maintain regular contact.

Shiesty’s attorney, Kent Schaffer, argues that the restrictions are excessive, particularly because his client has not been convicted in the pending criminal case.

Federal Prosecutors Defend Restrictions

However, federal prosecutors have challenged the rapper’s complaints, maintaining that the security measures are necessary for his protection and the safety of the detention facility.

Prosecutors cited several concerns, including an alleged incident involving inmates attempting to access Shiesty’s location and claims about his previous conduct.

They also disputed suggestions that the rapper has been completely cut off from communication, noting that he has access to a tablet for video calls, emails and other activities.

According to prosecutors, Shiesty has completed more than 230 video calls while detained.

Pooh Shiesty’s Trial Set for February 2027

The rapper is awaiting trial over allegations connected to an alleged January 2026 incident involving Gucci Mane at a Dallas recording studio.

Shiesty has pleaded not guilty, and the allegations remain unproven.

His trial is currently scheduled for February 22, 2027.

As the legal battle continues, attention now turns to whether the court will order changes to his detention conditions before his trial begins.
