Manchester City have made another huge statement in the transfer market.
The Premier League champions have completed the signing of 18-year-old Moroccan midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille in a deal worth around £86 million, according to reports. The teenager has signed a five-year contract with City.
The move makes Bouaddi the most expensive teenage signing in Premier League history, showing just how highly City rate the young midfielder.
Who Is Ayyoub Bouaddi?
Bouaddi has been developing rapidly since making his senior debut for Lille at just 16.
Last season, he featured in 30 Ligue 1 matches and continued to attract attention with his performances. He also made his senior Morocco debut in May and played a major role during Morocco’s World Cup campaign.
Now, he is heading to Manchester for the biggest move of his young career.
Is He the Next Rodri?
That will be the biggest question surrounding the transfer.
Manchester City have undergone major changes in midfield, with Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Tijjani Reijnders leaving during the current transfer window.
Bouaddi isn’t expected to simply walk in and become Rodri overnight. At 18, he still has plenty to learn.
But his intelligence, technical ability and maturity have convinced City that he could become a major player for the club.
For a player this young, an £86m price tag brings enormous pressure.
Now comes the hard part: proving he is worth it.
Do you think Ayyoub Bouaddi can become Manchester City’s next midfield superstar?
