Sean “Diddy” Combs could leave federal prison earlier than previously expected after his projected release date was changed once again.
According to a September 4 report from PEOPLE, Federal Bureau of Prisons records now list February 5, 2028 as Combs’ projected release date.
The new date represents another change in the timeline for the Bad Boy Records founder, who is currently serving his sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey.
Combs was sentenced to 50 months in federal prison on October 3, 2025, after a jury found him guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted of the more serious racketeering conspiracy and sex-trafficking charges brought against him.
Following his transfer to Fort Dix in 2025, his projected release date had been listed as May 8, 2028, according to reporting at the time.
That means the newly reported February 5 date would bring his projected release roughly three months earlier than that previous date.
However, projected federal prison release dates are not necessarily permanent. The Bureau of Prisons explains that release dates can change as sentences are reviewed and recalculated, including adjustments connected to federal time credits.
Combs is also participating in a drug rehabilitation program while incarcerated at Fort Dix, according to previous reports. His legal team has continued to challenge his conviction through the appeals process.
In addition to his prison sentence, Combs was ordered to pay a $500,000 fine and serve five years of supervised release following his imprisonment.
For now, February 5, 2028 is the latest publicly reported projected release date, although that date could still change before Combs completes his sentence.
