Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso believes Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer could form one of the Premier League’s most exciting partnerships.
Chelsea signed Rogers from Aston Villa on a contract running until 2033. British media reported that the deal was worth £117 million, making him the most expensive British footballer.
Alonso said Rogers was an important signing because of his talent, versatility and ability to play in several attacking positions.
Rogers and Palmer are close friends and also play together for England. Alonso believes their understanding could help improve Chelsea’s attack.
The manager is under pressure to revive the club after Chelsea finished 10th in the Premier League and ended last season without a trophy.
Chelsea will begin their new league campaign against Fulham on August 24.
