Universal Pictures’ upcoming Snoop Dogg biopic is continuing to build an impressive cast, with SwayvoTwain, the son of late music stars D’Angelo and Angie Stone, set to portray The Notorious B.I.G.
SwayvoTwain, whose real name is Michael D’Angelo Archer II, will play Christopher Wallace, better known as Biggie Smalls or The Notorious B.I.G., in the film currently titled Snoop. The role marks a major step in his career and brings him into a project centered on one of hip-hop’s most important eras.
The artist has already been building his own path in music, blending elements of hip-hop, R&B and Southern soul. His recent releases include songs such as “DoveSoar” and “Ms. Angie’s Son.”
The upcoming film will explore the life and career of Snoop Dogg, born Calvin Broadus Jr., tracing his journey from Long Beach, California, to becoming one of the most recognizable names in music and entertainment.
Jonathan Daviss, best known for Outer Banks, will star as Snoop Dogg. The cast also includes Myles Bullock as Dr. Dre, Camron Jones as Tupac Shakur, Tre Hale as Suge Knight, Algee Smith as Warren G, Corey Champagne as Nate Dogg and Olly Sholotan as Kurupt. Lauren London is set to portray Snoop Dogg’s late mother, Beverly Tate.
The film is being directed by Craig Brewer, known for Hustle & Flow. Snoop Dogg is also involved as a producer alongside Brian Grazer and producers connected to Death Row Pictures and Imagine Entertainment.
Biggie’s appearance in the movie could be one of its most interesting elements, especially as the story revisits the intense East Coast and West Coast rivalry that shaped hip-hop during the 1990s. Despite tensions between the two scenes, Snoop Dogg and Biggie were known to have mutual respect for each other.
Snoop is currently scheduled for release on August 6, 2027, giving hip-hop fans plenty to look forward to as more details about the film emerge.
